Welcome!!!

I am a Biology and Physical Science teacher at Joplin High School.  Biology is mostly taken by 10th graders who have completed Physical Science and Physical Science is taken by 9th graders.  I will be continuing to update my website as needed thru out the school year.  Please feel free to contact me at my email address bgrotheer@joplin.k12.mo.us or BrandyGrotheer@joplinschools.com.

A little about me....

I reside in Pittsburg, KS with my husband and our 7 dogs.    My husband, Noah, and I have been married for 5 years and enjoy spending as much time as possible with each other and our dogs.  We have 5 wieners dogs and 2 big dogs that we have rescued through the years due to various circumstances such as abuse and neglect and other reasons we are unaware of because they were taken in strays.  I enjoy exercising, reading, spending time with my family, and teaching science to my students. I taught 5 years of various science courses to students at Labette County High School.  I awake at 4:00am and spend an hour everyday working out at our YMCA for an hour and head out to school by 6 or shortly after 6 in the morning.  Often I arrive at my classroom an hour before school starts and stay until the days work is done.  I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Biology (Pre-Med) in 2003 and returned in 2005 for my education requirements so I could be a teacher.  I got my first teaching job in 2006 at Labette County High School.  In 2009, I obtained a Masters in Educational Leadership in hopes that some day I will become a Principal.  However, I absolutely enjoy teaching and don't plan on leaving my students anytime soon!  I have been described by my former students as a crazy science teacher who loves what she does and will go above and beyond what I have to do to help my students be successful.  I am excited to be a JHS Eagle and ready to meet my new students and their parents!!!!
